Tim Quilty says tariffs against quality Australian exports are self-defeating

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has condemned tariffs imposed on Australian barley, pointing out that they are an own-goal for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Mr Quilty underlined that any regime which has tried to fight against competitive free markets has come out the loser.

Tim Quilty pushes for action on CFA radios to help firefighters on border with NSW

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has called for a solution to firefighter radio problems which could have cost lives during the summer bushfires.

Fires along the Victorian and NSW borders are tackled by the Victorian CFA and NSW RFS, but the two fire services are unable to talk to each other via radio due to differences in standards.

Tim Quilty urges Premier to rethink Belt and Road deal with Chinese government

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has urged Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews to rethink the Labor Government’s deal with the Chinese government.

The Victorian Government is entering into a deal with the Chinese Government, part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which Mr Andrews claims will bring economic benefits to the State.

Tim Quilty says Victorian Government's firearms sales ban should never have happened

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty says the ban on the sale of firearms and ammunition during the coronavirus crisis should never have been approved.

The ban was lifted at 11.59pm on Tuesday, ending a controversial restriction which caused uproar in the shooting community.

Tim Quilty calls out Premier's 'stage managed' announcement of return to schools

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has welcomed the announcement of a return to school for Victorian students, but has called on Premier Daniel Andrews to stop ‘stage-managing’ announcements.

The Victorian Premier announced today that the youngest and oldest students – prep to grade two and years 11 and 12 – would return to school on Tuesday May 26, while years three to 10 will return on Tuesday June 9.
