Tim Quilty slams gold tax proposal, calls for regional Victoria to break free

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, has again raised the idea of regional Victoria breaking away from Melbourne in a speech criticising Labor’s plan to increase taxes on gold mines.

The cash-strapped Andrews Government wants to raise more money by increasing the taxes paid by gold-mining companies.

Tim Quilty calls for reuse of felled memorial trees at Tintaldra to create monument

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, is calling on the Victorian and Federal Governments to help create a new memorial from the timbers of felled commemorative trees at Tintaldra.

Two of the trees – which were planted to honour men from Tintaldra who fought in World War I - were removed as part of bushfire remediation work, as they had been deemed hazardous.

Tim Quilty recognises suffering of fire victims, calls for better government response

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, has spoken in Parliament to recognise the suffering endured by so many Victorians during the recent and ongoing bushfires, and to call for the Victorian Government to do better.

Mr Quilty, who spent part of the Christmas period fighting fires on his parents’ farm, highlighted the uncertainty and isolation which many people endured.

Tim Quilty promises to keep pushing for solution to Rutherglen's truck woes

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, has vowed to keep pushing the Victorian Government to resolve Rutherglen’s truck problem after receiving a letter from Roads Minister Jaala Pulford committing to further investigations.

While there is no community consensus as to how to remove heavy trucks from Rutherglen’s main street, the town is united in its opposition to Regional Roads Victoria’s proposal.
