Let people fish and hunt, say Liberal Democrats colleagues Tim Quilty and David Limbrick

Liberal Democrats MPs, Tim Quilty for Northern Victoria, and David Limbrick for the South Eastern Metropolitan region are pressuring the Victorian Government to allow people to fish and hunt. This follows an announcement yesterday that fishing would continue to be allowed in NSW.

Tim Quilty says that the rules in Victoria allow people to leave their house to get food or to exercise – and fishing and hunting should fall under this category.

Tim Quilty closes Wodonga office, but is concerned by coronavirus restrictions

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has closed his electorate office in Wodonga as part of the increasing measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, but is concerned that people’s freedoms are being rapidly eliminated.

As the number of cases in Victoria reached 821 and stage three restrictions were introduced, Mr Quilty took the decision to protect the health of his office staff and the public.

Mr Quilty believes that with demand for certain goods skyrocketing, the market response of increasing prices to match demand would put a stop to empty shelves and shoppers fighting over basic goods.

Upper House supports Tim Quilty's motion to increase corruption watchdog funding

The Legislative Council of Victoria today supported Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty’s motion calling on the Andrews Government to increase funding for the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).

Mr Quilty introduced the motion in Parliament calling on the Victorian Government to increase funding for IBAC, and it passed unopposed.

Mr Quilty has asked Parliament to consider amending the Road Safety Act to make it legal to exceed the speed limit while overtaking a slower vehicle on a single-lane highway.

Tim Quilty says Local Government Bill will increase chances of council corruption

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, has condemned a bill which he says will make council corruption harder to deal with and which gives the major political parties a big advantage.

The bill will set up a single-member ward structure for most of the local councils in Victoria, which the Victorian Electoral Commission has recommended against adopting.

Tim Quilty labels duck hunt season 'pathetic' after Government allows just five weeks

Tim Quilty, Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria, has opened fire on the Andrews Government’s announcement of a five-week duck hunting season, labelling it “a pathetic attempt” to buy off protesters while throwing scraps to hunters.

Mr Quilty had earlier this month pushed Agriculture Minister Jaclyn Symes for an announcement, stating that time was running out for hunters to organise trips and that there had been a good season for breeding.
