Tim Quilty ends Parliament in Exile to take part in fight against new pandemic bill

Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has returned to Parliament, handing in proof of his double vaccination so that he can vote against the Victorian Government’s new pandemic laws.

Mr Quilty has this week been taking part in parliamentary activities from a closed nightclub near Parliament House, speaking to the chamber via audio-visual link.

Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty and Member for South Eastern Metro David Limbrick have formed ‘Parliament in Exile’ where, along with independent Catherine Cumming, they have set up in a closed nightclub where they will take part in the majority of Parliamentary business via audio-visual link. The trio are expecting this week to debate a bill which is intended to extend the current State of Emergency.

‘Parliament in Exile’ begins just as Government introduces new State of Emergency powers

Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty says the Andrews Government’s new pandemic bill being rammed through Parliament this week must not be allowed to become law.

Replacing the State of Emergency laws which have caused so much harm to Victoria, the new bill will, according to Mr Quilty, placate some of the criticisms of the existing emergency legislation while giving extraordinary power to the Premier.

Business as usual for Tim Quilty during suspension, except one key function: voting

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty is continuing his work as a Member of Parliament in spite of his suspiciously timed suspension.

The Victorian Government last week passed a motion which required all MPs in the Legislative Council to provide evidence of their vaccination status, something Mr Quilty, although fully vaccinated, voted against and subsequently chose not to comply with.

Premier intent on hounding unvaccinated Victorians, says Tim Quilty

Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has condemned the announcement that unvaccinated Victorians will face restrictions until well into next year.

Premier Daniel Andrews said yesterday that, unlike NSW, unvaccinated Victorians will not be permitted any extra freedoms when the state reaches the 90% double dose coverage.

Andrews Government suspends Tim Quilty from Parliament

The Victorian Government has succeeded in suspending Liberal Democrats Member for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty from Parliament.

A notice of motion to suspend any Member who refuses to show proof of vaccination sailed through the Upper House last night, with just four Members voting against.
